The strategy consists of pumping out stalkers as fast as you can and either warping in the opponents base or using Blink so that you are able to leap past his defenses. This strategy is very effective for people who decide they wish to go air. When Protoss goes air, the stalker is something that will easily destroy them. You do not want to use Stalkers against Zealots and Immortals. A build order that I use for a stalker strategy would be like this. I would first build 8 Probes, and then a Pylon would be next. I would take that Pylon and scout with it, while continue to build more probes. I will observe the opponents base while pumping out Probes, and I would set up Chrono Boost to speed up production of Probes, and at 12 supply, I would construct a Gateway. As soon as the Gateway is ready, I will build an Assimilator to mine Vespene Gas, put 3 Probes on it, and construct a Cybernetics core and a Pylon. At 16 Probes, I would construct 2 more Gateways next to the first one.

Ideally I want to construct it where their scouts would be unable to see it. When the Cybernetics core is finished, I would Chrono Boost a Stalker, and continue by researching Warp Gate technology. I will then construct Stalkers non-stop, building more Probes and Pylons as necessary. If you have more units than the enemy, proceed by building a Templar Council, and research Blink so that you are able to get past his defenses. It should not be long in the game, and you should have a minimum of 18 Stalkers depending on your speed. You should go to his map and make use of Blink to attack. If you notice that his units are greater than yours, you must expand and destroy his expansions. You must expand immediately, build a Nexus and Assimilator. You need to build 3 more Gateways, and upgrade them to Warp Gates. Make sure to research Blink, and you will continually attack using Blink to get past his defenses. You will never really have enough Stalkers, and you will be able to continuously expand, building a Nexus, mining for Gas, and building more Stalkers. The more you attack, the more the opponent is left to defend, as you keep expanding, and attacking, stopping him from expanding, by increasing your armed force, he will slowly lose his territory, run out of minerals leaving you to win the game. Tip: If the opponent is making a large ground army, you can supplement the Stalkers with Zealots and Immortals. You will learn to do more as you get more advanced.

Using Protoss to Harass Enemies

In Starcraft 2, Protoss has the widest range of units available to them, leaving a vast amount of strategies which you are able to use. It is important to know what all of the units are good for if you wish to become a master at the game. These are three very popular, effective and well-known methods to help you get started playing Starcraft with the Protoss race.

Zealot Rush

The Zealot Rush is a highly effective strategy against Zerg opponents. It must be used early in the game, as Zealot’s are strong against Zerglings. You must be fast for this rush to work, and must get them before your opponent uses Roaches and Hydralisks. Your main goal in this is to destroy his mineral flow, if you are able to stop his mineral flow you will put him at a big disadvantage early on in the game, and it will not be easy to catch up. On a player of a low level, you may be able to finish them. Some key things to note with this rush are to avoid his Queen until you have at least 3 or 4 Zealots. You must also watch him to see if he is putting down any Spine Crawlers, and if he has a Baneling Nest as well. It is important to micro-manage this, as if you do not properly micro-manage, you will just waste your Zealots, however if you micro-manage properly, you can win the game. Do not Zealot rush against Terrans, marines are quite strong and cost effective, they are very good at taking out Zealots.

Warp Prism Colossus Harass

You can use the Warp Prism Colossus to harass your opponents, and hurt their economy with low risk to you. All you have to do is tech up so that you are able to get the Warp Prisms, and the Colossi. You get a Warp Prism and a Colossus, using the Warp Prism, you send the Colossus to the back of his base. Your goal for this strategy is to warp the Colossus back and forth, using it to attack his resources. Whenever he comes to defend, and attack your Colossus, you warp it back, so that you do not lose your Colossus. You do not wish for it to take any damage, and it is quite annoying towards him, will frustrate him and slowly deplete his minerals.

Dark Templar Rush

Dark Templar’s are very useful before the opponent starts getting observers. Once the opponent is able to see the stealth units, they lose much of their effectiveness. This strategy makes a bit of risk as if the opponent is properly defended, you will put yourself at a disadvantage, so you must be prepared. To use this strategy, you load up on gas, and get your Shrine before they can scout it. As soon as you have Dark Templars, you must send them to the enemy’s base and attack immediately. The first thing you always want to do is head for their minerals and destroy as many scv’s, drones, probe’s as you possibly can. If you are able to kill them all, attack other important things like Supply Depots. Lots of times, people get worried when they are about to face off against another Protoss player. They know how versatile the Protoss is, and the amount of different strategies they can use on you is so vast, but the same goes for you. As a Protoss player, you have so many strategies you can use, and if you implement it right, defeating Protoss is no different than defeating any other race. If the person is using Protoss, but is not specialized and does not have specific strategies for facing off against them, it can lend to a very easy game for you. The most important thing with any race in Starcraft 2 is to remember to scout early.

Void Rays

The Void ray is great against opponents who make big Protoss units such as Carriers, attacking their base, etc. The Void ray is effective against Protoss, as they actually do not have much to counter air units with. One strategy that you can use is to block off your base, build a build a Stargate, and 2-3 Void Rays and attacking. Now you must have previously scouted, because if he scouted, he may see that you are walled off and builds Stalkers, then you’re in trouble, but if he did not and is building Zealots, well he’s a goner. It works best in lower leagues versus opponents who do not scout. Another way is to expand aggressively, gather minerals, build void rays, this is a mass air strategy. What they need to do is amass large amounts of Stalkers to counter this. This strategy can work really well if you combine it with ground units like Zealots.

Dark Templar Rush

Dark Templars can be one of the most annoying units to deal with. This is a strategy that seems to work very effectively in higher leagues as well as lower leagues. To do this effectively, you cannot let the enemy know what you are doing, build 9 probes immediately, and then build your pylon at the entrance. If you do not build it near the entrance, make sure the opponent cannot properly scout the whole base. Next you will build a Gateway, you can pump out a couple Zealots to get rid of the enemies scouting probes. At 16 units, build another pylon near the edge of your base, a part that the opponent will not be able to see, as this is the most important part. You need to then build a Cybernetics core, and start collecting Gas. All the while keep building probes for minerals as well. After the Cybernetics core, research warp technology (optional) and build your second Gateway. Having 2 gateways leads to a faster output of units, you do not want to have to wait for your Dark Templars to collect. As soon as you are able to build a Dark Shrine do it, preferably in a place the enemy cannot see. After the Dark Shrine, if you are able, build a Pylon and a warp gate inside of the enemy’s base with the probe that has scouted, this is usually difficult if you are going against a good opponent. If not, you can also build it near the enemy’s base just so you do not have to have your Dark Templars walk far, giving him more time to research observers.  I build about 4 Dark Templars, and if the enemy doesn’t have detection, you will be able to rampage and destroy his base. Ideally you wish to hit the Nexus first as that is what he needs to survive. If you find he’s building detection, you might want to hit all of his probes as fast as you can, if you feel you do not have enough time to build a Nexus. Once he does have detection, I usually run my Dark Templars out of there. If you take out the Nexus, you pretty much won the game, you just have to send out balanced units. If you took out the Probes it will be a bit more difficult, but he just lost his entire economy, so you also have a very good chance of beating him. The most important thing to watch out for with this strategy is dectors, if you go for this strategy and he has detectors you may lose the game.

Mixed Army

Mixed units are good, they create a good balance for Protoss. They are able to fight anything, and if micro’d correctly, are able to defend and attack just about anyone. There is however a way to beat them. The key to beating them is not spending money on getting different buildings, or anything of that sort. The key is to stop them early with Zealots and Sentries. You should also consider researching Charge, although not as necessary for Protoss it still makes your untis better. So concentrate on building mass amounts of Zealots and Sentries, saving your resources and just going for a larger army. You cannot extend the game, you cannot let him expand. If the opponent is the type to mass Zealots, then you want to take the other route and build air units (void rays).

These are just a few of the Protoss vs Protoss strategies that are available in the game. You will actually find that the strategies can be used for other races as well, and that they are all very flexible. It is important to find a strategy that you enjoy employing. Due to the versatility of the Protoss race, there are a lot of great ways to beat Protoss players. The key is early scouting so you can get whatever counters your opponent. With that said, here are some effective Protoss vs Protoss strategies:

Void Rays

For a longer game, getting Void Rays is a great way to beat another Protoss player. Protoss lack a strong armored air counter. There are two ways to pull this off. First you can try the air rush, which involves walling your base, building 1 Stargate, making 2-3 Void Rays, and going in. If your enemy is building Zealots and Immortals, this is an effective strategy. If your enemy is amassing stalkers, it is a bad strategy. It works best in lower leagues versus opponents who do not scout. The other way to do this is to spread out the map aggressively and amass void rays. If you construct a massive Void Ray army, your Protoss opponent cannot stop it. The Stalker is the key counter to an air rush. To the mass air strategy, you have to just stop it by destroying unprotected expansions. It will be unstoppable if too many Voids are built.

Dark Templar Rush

This is very effective even in the higher leagues. You must wall the entrance with a pylon, a gateway, and a few Zealots. You can’t let your opponent know what you are up to. Immediately upgrade to a Dark Shrine. If you can, conceal the Dark Shrine in the corner of your base so the enemy can’t see it. When you go in, if the enemy has no detection (common if you are fast), you can use the front and send in at least 4 Templar as that way you can kill faster than the opponent can counter. Go right for the kill and take out their core Nexus at once. If they do have detection, you can still usually execute their main base if you use a Warp Prism and warp in about 6 Dark Templar. By the time they recognize what happened, their Nexus is gone! Once this happens, make a more balanced army to come in and execute everything.

Mixed Army

A lot of players will go for the mixed army approach: some Stalkers, some Sentries, some Immortals, and maybe some Zealots. This is efficient but the easiest way to counter this as a Protoss player is to hit them early. Research Charge and mass Zealots and Sentries (on a side note, Charge is not nearly as important versus Protoss players as they have no units which easily kite Zealots). The opponent will spend a lot of resources on a variety of buildings and you will end up with a larger, stronger army in the short time. Don’t let them go air or expand and you will win this just like that. Charging Zealots and Sentries are great versus newbies who mass Stalkers as well. To counter a Zealot masser, go air!

To sum up, three effective ways to beat Protoss players are to rush or mass Void Rays, rush to Dark Templar, or build Zealots and Sentries. These are just a few of many Starcraft 2 Protoss vs Protoss strategies. The best Starcraft 2 Protoss vs Protoss Strategy always depends on your opponent’s strategy. If your opponent is massing Zealots and Sentries, a quick Void Ray strike will be crippling. If they are massing Sentries, rushing to Voids can be disastrous. Protoss vs Terran Strategies – Stalkers

You will most often have to deal with Reapers eventually. You can however follow a few tips to handle this. The best method to approach this is to proxy in a one versus one game. This would involve constructing Gateways as quickly as you can at your opponent’s base. At the very beginning of the game, send a Probe outside your opponent’s base to a hidden spot. In the meantime, build a probe at your own base to harvest minerals.

Once your probe reaches the opponent’s base at the right location, build a pylon and to Gateways after that. As soon as the first Gateway is completed, send in a Zealot by Chrono Boosting. If one or two Marines attack you, you can easily dispatch them. If you opponent is constructing a tech lab, destroy it immediately as you do not want Reapers at any cost.

Keep building more Zealots as you send them inside in more numbers. This would be a good way of harassing the opponent and keeping him from building units. Even if he survives your attack, you need to ensure that you contain him effectively as you expand the map.

Another strategy is to rush Stalkers. Build one Pylon at 8/10 as well as one Gateway at 12/19. As you are building your Gateway, pump out Probes. Once you get the spare minerals, build an Assimilator. When you Gateway is done, then build a Cybernetics Core. In the meantime, build a Zealot, one more Pylon and pump out more workers. Once the Cubernetics Core is done, Chrono Boost out a Stalker. A clever opponent might send a Reaper before your Stalker. But that is not an issue as you may not lose many Probes before you get your Stalker. Then position your Stalker in the minerals operation.

Some times the opponent might react even quicker and rush the Reaper even at the cost of a few workers. But then again, it is not a huge problem as you will only lose a few Probes by the time your Stalker arrives. If the opponent had actually sacrificed building works in favor of rushing the Reaper, that would have done more damage to him than to you.

Once you have your Stalker in hand, you can start building units to counter his game plan. If he is using Mauraders, then you can counter them by using Charge Zealots / Sentries. In case he comes out with Marines, then you need to use Colossi. Siege Tanks can be effectively countered by using any one of Immortals, Void Rays, or the Phoenix. Void Rays can especially be a great asset when you are playing against Terran players.

Since the Terrans are the most difficult players to play against when you are a Protoss, you need to have a good strategy to counter the opponent’s power. Using the strategies outlined above can be an effective weapon against the Terrans in any game.

The Protoss in the Starcraft game are futuristic aliens. Their main asset is their advanced technology and their large and powerful units which they can use to defeat the enemy. Most people like to choose the Protoss race and they are one of the most popular as they are easy to play with. However, it could be quite challenging to become a great player in Starcraft 2 using the Protoss player.

One of the main reasons for people choosing the Protoss is that the game is real fun playing with them as they are powerful enough to counter any kind of attack from the enemy. We will briefly see how it is very effective to use the Protoss unit Immortal as a good strategy to play Starcraft 2.

One of the first things you need to understand in this Starcraft 2 strategy when using the Immortals is that they have two very unique qualities. The great thing about the Immortals is that they are equipped with a special shield that protects them from attack. Using this shield, they can take a maximum damage of 10 beyond which the hits are deflected. In other words, when a single hit can cause a damage much beyond 10 in other units, the maximum damage it can inflict on the Immortals is restricted to 10 because of their special shield.

The next important quality of the Immortals is that they can inflict more damage on their enemy based on what armor the enemy has on them. When these two special qualities of the Immortals are combined, they really turn out to be a force to be reckoned with. As a result of these properties, they can be extremely effective even against large units such as the Ultralisks or the Thors. While that is a great advantage, there is a caveat here that you need to be aware of. These special properties that we saw with the Immortals however make them susceptible to much smaller units such as the Marines or the Zerglings. For instance, the Zerglings or Marines can easily chew up the Immortals which is something that you need to be careful about.

When a Terran player gathers an army full of Tanks or Thors and aims a full scale attack on you, the wisest Starcraft 2 strategy that you can adopt to counter their attack would be to use Immortals. But on the other hand, if the enemy brings smaller units such as the Marines, you need to immediately remember that the Immortals are extremely vulnerable against the Marines. Therefore you should never bring them out to fight against the Marines. Most Zerg players also never realize that Roaches can do a slow damage attack of 16 damage. Therefore the Immortals can cause more damage to them than they receive. They are also effective against the Ultralisks and Hydralisks. You however need to be careful with the Zerglings as they can take down Immortals quite easily. You can use Colossus against the rushing Zerglings instead.

So you need to always keep the Immortals in your build order. Knowing their power and how to use them is a great Starcraft 2 strategy for victory.
