There is this saying that two good heads are better than one. In this case, that saying proves right. You wanna know why? Keep reading, you’d find out soon.

Banelings are a special Zerg unit. They are otherwise referred to as living or walking bombs. Their sole purpose of creation is to annihilate as much enemy settlements as possible in one great blast! These Banelings are mutant specie of the Zergling units in which their morphing process requires the use of a Banelings nest.

Banelings are endowed with a special ability to be able to detonate while being burrowed. This unique feature is very useful when setting up surprise ambushes for enemy units. All that is required is to burrow the Banelings along paths which the enemy is suspected to pass. When the enemy force aggregates over such burrowed locations, the Banelings could then be detonated. An interesting feature about the Banelings is that they detonate with a splash and this ensures that the explosion covers a wide area and destroys every object within its radius.

When orchestrating a Baneling Rush, it is important to first of all scout for the enemy’s base before the morphing process is through. The Banelings are then used to take out the enemy base walls and other important structures thereby leaving the enemy camp vulnerable to attack from other Zerg attack units.

The Roaches on the other hand are specially adapted armored Zerg units which possess the unique ability of rapid self healing. It is also capable of burrowing as well. They are somewhat similar to Banelings in terms of their actions. However, an added advantage the Roaches have over the Baneling is that while burrowed, the roaches are still capable of moving around.

Roaches are known to possess some kind of acidic secretion which is capable of eating though Neosteel. This serves a very vital function in the event of a Roach Rush. Since the roaches are capable of moving under burrows, a tactical combination of Banelings and Roaches pretty much makes for a deadly duo.

Imagine combining a Baneling Rush and a Roach Rush together in one really crazy combo rush! That’s my favorite opening move. Here’s how it works:

• First of all, units of Banelings and Roaches should be produced.
• Next, at the onset of the attack, the Banelings are sent into the enemy camp after adequate scouting must have been carried out. These Banelings are targeted at important buildings and structures like the barracks, supply depot etc.
• After these structures have been taken out, then it would be time for the burrowed Roaches to move in. These units are directed at the other enemy units.

In all this, it is important to remember that it is always necessary to provide adequate support (aerial/ground) for these ground units (Banelings and Roaches) because you never really can tell what kind of resistance will be met. So it would really pay so much to take precaution in order to avoid any unforeseen and unpleasant surprises.
