Starcraft 2 – Joana’s Strategy Guide Review

To get a better understanding of Joana’s guide, you have to first look at who Joana is. Joana is actually legendary for winning the Blizzard – World of Warcraft leveling contest years ago, he (yes Joana is a male) was the first person to reach level 50. He is a true game afficionado, and I would almost go as far as to call him a game Savant. The things that he has done in Warcraft has carried on to Starcraft are incredible. What is more amazing is that he has configured a system which makes it possible for anybody to do (given they put in some effort)..

The most annoying thing about many Starcraft guides are people who do not have actual skill yet preach like they do. Joana is verified to have real skills in Starcraft, you can see that he is a skilled Diamond member. Not just a regular diamond member, but on the member page you can see the skill level is very high. He is not all show and no go.

The guide is excellent for newbies looking to get started in Starcraft as he breaks every part of the game down, giving you specific build orders.

buildorder Starcraft 2 Joanas Strategy Guide Review

This kind of build order is so sound and refined, you cannot make a mistake. You can also see the speed that he builds at, and you should be able to keep up with him somewhat if you wish to be more advanced.  It is quite an amazing look into the guide.

With just the build orders you will not get anywhere in the game. You need some kind of advice, what if the opponent rushes with Zerglings, etc. You will have an in depth tech tree so that you are able to view the game what resources make what, and how to counter every single strategy correctly. It will take a while for you to be able to fully implement the strategies, as there are so many, and your control will not be as good, but after some time you will be able to do it easily. He will teach you step by step how to correctly micro and macro.

There is a guide for every race, so you will not feel left out. You can buy only 1 guide, and you can be good at all three races. Knowing how to play against each race is essential. You cannot use the same strategy for a Terran and a Zerg, as they are very different, have different units, etc.

So the Terran guide is broken down with playing against Terrans, Zerg, and Protoss. The Zerg Guide has strategies for Terran, Protoss and Zerg. The Protoss Guide has strategies for Terran, Protoss and Zerg. Each race is balanced out equally in this guide making it an absolutely great guide for anybody who wishes to master 1 race.

Starcraft 2 Joanas Strategy Guide Review
Sometimes when I first start playing a game, I will not just jump into the online games as they are much much more complicated. It takes a lot more skill to master online games. Instead of worrying about that, I will start off with single player campaigns. There are details for every part of the single player campaigns, so you can easily beat it giving you a good foundation to the game. Although it feels like cheating a bit, because it makes it so much easier, but it’s still very very fun.

Joana’s guide tells you quite a lot about Starcraft, it really is from a master who has successfully broken down every part of the guide. It is not from somebody who preaches a lot about Starcraft, but has not done nothing. I prefer learning from somebody who actually plays rather than somebody who just preaches about playing. The guide offers a 60 day money back guarantee, so if you are not satisfied ask for your refund!

Marines, Marauders and Medivacs

Marines

starcraft 2 terran marine Marines, Marauders and Medivacs

Marines are the first line of Terran attack and defense unit that you could possibly build. Even though marines are the first offense or defensive unit, they are capable of attacking both ground and air, even though Zerglings and Zealots are not capable of that. Of course in Starcraft, to have a positive, there is always a negative. The negative being that resource for resource in an open area, a Marine would lose to Zerglings (resource for resource if not micro’d correctly) and Zealots. They are also one of the weakest attack units in the game. They have low hit points, and firepower, although good Terran players will figure out ways such as walling off, where a Marine will have a huge advantage.

Shokz250x250GIF 3 Marines, Marauders and Medivacs

The Marines don’t sound like the best, but they actually have a lot going for them. There are two upgrades which are actually very effective. They can both be researched in the Tech Lab. The first one is the Combat Shield. This upgrade is great and adds 10 Hit Points to the Marines health. They do not have a lot to start with so that 10 hit points is very essential. The second upgrade is called the Stim Pack. It has always been very essential, they are good for 15 seconds after you apply it. 15 seconds seems short, but in the Starcraft game, a lot can be accomplished in that amount of time. It makes you attack more, and increases your speed. If you do not doubt their effectiveness, take two marines, use Stim Pack on one, and do not use it on the other, face them off and you will see how much more effective the Stim Pack’d marine is. Things to note about the Stim Pack are that they do not stack. Do not press the button 5 times thinking you will get that much more of an effect.

Marauders

Marauder Marines, Marauders and Medivacs

After the Marine, there is another very effective unit. Unlike the marines, they only attack ground units, they have an upgrade called the Concussive shells which is essential if you are going to use Marauders. The Concussive shells are capable of slowing down the enemy units by as much as 50%, it works very effectively against Protoss units when the opponent is trying to run away and preserve their units due to the cost. Marauders also have the exact same Stim Pack ability as the Marines, and it is another essential upgrade to get. A Marauder with a Stim Pack is far more powerful than a regular Marauder.

Marauders are very capable and good units, but they are best when used in conjunction with two other units being the Marines and the Medivacs.

Medivacs

MedivacDropship Marines, Marauders and Medivacs

If you have ever played Starcraft, you would realize how essential Medics were to Terrans, especially in conjunction with Marines and Firebats. In Starcraft 2, we have Medivacs which are like Marines, but are far more flexble. They have drop ship capabilities, they are able to hold up to 8 units at a time, and they also have the ability to heal the units. They can heal nearby units, allowing your units to stay on the field longer.

Medivacs are essential in Starcraft 2, because you do not want to needlessly throw away units. Many people are under the impression that you can just create more resources, but the difference between an average player and a great one is the great one will keep limited amounts of resources, constantly spending, and not using them recklessly. A great player will not send men to war and just have them killed, he will try to preserve them as each extra unit will be a big help in this game

The more you preserve individual troops the better off you will be. You need to know when to sacrifice and when to save.

MMM Strategy

MMM Marines, Marauders and Medivacs

So after playing with the Marines, Marauders, even the Medivacs for a bit you must realize a few things. The first is individually they are not very powerful and kind of a waste. They are not very useful, and Blizzard would have to create something for them to be useful. So there is a way which was developed by gamers to successfully use the MMM strategy with great success. This strategy is called the MMM Strategy. You might be wondering what the MMM Strategy is, but after reading about the Marines, Marauders or Medivacs a lot must have been cleared up for you. The MMM Strategy consists of getting massive infantry units, Marines and Marauders, getting the Stim Packs, Concussive Shells, and the Ballistic Alloy Combat Shield.

When you have all of these researched and have a giant sized Terran army, it is very very powerful, and difficult to stop. They can attack anything, with such a large army, they can deal quite a lot of damage, and whenever you attack them, they end up healing themselves. They will eliminate Protoss Zealots, Immortals, Void Rays, Stalkers, and are very effective against Zerg opponents as well. You need to use a solid strategy to fight against Medivac’s, without a good strategy you will be at a huge loss.

Build Orders – Advanced Guide

This guide is more of an advanced than a beginner guide, and many of you will not like it, because things are not laid out and crystal clear. The thing is at the advanced levels, not everything is perfectly easy to comprehend where you get simple questions with simple answers like 1 + 1 = 2, or 2 + 2 = 4. That would be so easy.

This is something that applies to so many aspects in life, so use this information not only for Starcraft but in anything you wish to truly master. If you want to excel at something, you can’t just do what everyone else does in such a rigid line. You must be willing to deviate from the set path that others choose. Now don’t get me wrong, you still need the basics put into you. Not just any amount of basics, you need a mastery of the basics, if you wish to become great at something. Starcraft, Sports, etc. Great boxes know how to jab, throw a straight, a cross, uppercut, bob & weave, slip, they have all their footwork down pat, so it’s not like they just walk in, throw looping punches and expect to be called a great. No! They have to have a solid amount of fundamentals to their game. What they don’t do is always have a perfectly set game plan, if something goes wrong, they might have to adjust, they can’t have the same game plan for every opponent, etc. The boxer knows who he is facing off against,so he has more of a chance to devise a game plan. If you were a Pro Starcraft Player in Korea, you would also have a chance to develop a very solid game plan, but even then they must adjust depending on what the opponent does.

What this is about is not to throw away a game plan completely, it’s telling you to be flexible and always be ready to adjust whenever necessary. I’m also saying that at higher levels, you may not even necessariy have a build strategy, build more supplies before you know you’ll need them, keep building more units, attack, micro, build more units, expand when you feel it’s necessary, etc. You cannot say with certainty at 17 Probes you should have X amount of Pylons, Y Zealots, Z Stalkers, etc. You must be ready for whatever comes in your path. Maybe he attacked you earlier, and you lost units, you have to be prepared for these things, and cannot let that throw you off completely. So as Bruce Lee would say “Be Like Water”

Stalker Strategy Build Order

60241bee46469db Stalker Strategy Build Order A strategy that anybody can use which works very effectively would be called the Stalker Strategy. The strategy consists of pumping out stalkers as fast as you can and either warping in the opponents base or using Blink so that you are able to leap past his defenses. This strategy is very effective for people who decide they wish to go air. When Protoss goes air, the stalker is something that will easily destroy them. You do not want to use Stalkers against Zealots and Immortals. A build order that I use for a stalker strategy would be like this. I would first build 8 Probes, and then a Pylon would be next. I would take that Pylon and scout with it, while continue to build more probes. I will observe the opponents base while pumping out Probes, and I would set up Chrono Boost to speed up production of Probes, and at 12 supply, I would construct a Gateway. As soon as the Gateway is ready, I will build an Assimilator to mine Vespene Gas, put 3 Probes on it, and construct a Cybernetics core and a Pylon. At 16 Probes, I would construct 2 more Gateways next to the first one.

If you want to learn strategies like this one in much more detail, then buy Shokz Guide!!!

Shokz250x250GIF 3 Stalker Strategy Build Order

Ideally I want to construct it where their scouts would be unable to see it. When the Cybernetics core is finished, I would Chrono Boost a Stalker, and continue by researching Warp Gate technology. I will then construct Stalkers non-stop, building more Probes and Pylons as necessary. If you have more units than the enemy, proceed by building a Templar Council, and research Blink so that you are able to get past his defenses. It should not be long in the game, and you should have a minimum of 18 Stalkers depending on your speed. You should go to his map and make use of Blink to attack. If you notice that his units are greater than yours, you must expand and destroy his expansions. You must expand immediately, build a Nexus and Assimilator. You need to build 3 more Gateways, and upgrade them to Warp Gates. Make sure to research Blink, and you will continually attack using Blink to get past his defenses. You will never really have enough Stalkers, and you will be able to continuously expand, building a Nexus, mining for Gas, and building more Stalkers. The more you attack, the more the opponent is left to defend, as you keep expanding, and attacking, stopping him from expanding, by increasing your armed force, he will slowly lose his territory, run out of minerals leaving you to win the game. Tip: If the opponent is making a large ground army, you can supplement the Stalkers with Zealots and Immortals. You will learn to do more as you get more advanced.

On my quest for knowledge, new strategies, and overall getting better in Starcraft 2 I decided to check out different guides.  Now normally most people would look at official guides, the type that are written at the bookstore, but the problem with official guides are that they are never really up to date. You see the strategy, and that is it, you never really see how people counter the strategy, or if Blizzard releases an update how that will affect the strategy, there is so much that is left out. Although for single player campaigns, they serve their purpose quite nicely.

Now you must remember, a guide is not necessary to become great at Starcraft 2. The most important thing is simply to play, the more you play the better you will get. What the guide does is reduce your learning curve greatly, you will end up trying things that are known and proven to work, instead of randomly finding out yourself. If you consider your time to be valuable, then getting the guide is a good choice.

5ad2722d5f31229 Shokz Guide Review

Shokz guide was not the first guide that I came upon, but it was certainly the most impressive. At first I was very skeptical at the wild claims that they were making, but I decided I would give it a shot, there is a 60 day Money Back Guarantee!!! There is really no risk, and I figured if I didn’t like it I would do just that, return it. I’m not the type to keep something if it’s not worth it.

What makes the guide so great is that it is very organized. There are different sections for almost everything. You aren’t fumbling through random mess, and it’s not just some ebook that is never updated with the latest or new strategies. Shokz plans on updating this guide, because he will have to Blizzard is going to create expansion packs for Starcraft II.

The types of guides that he has are:

Campaign Guide
Terran Guide – (Strategies, Hot Keys, Expanding, Basic Playing tips, how to correctly micro and macro, etc)
Terran Unit Guide – Various different units, what they are good against, what they are weak against, how to properly use them and when.
Protoss Guide – (Strategies, Hot Keys, Expanding, Basic Playing tips, how to correctly micro and macro, etc)
Protoss Unit Guide – Various different units, what they are good against, what they are weak against, how to properly use them and when.
Zerg Guide – (Strategies, Hot Keys, Expanding, Basic Playing tips, how to correctly micro and macro, etc)
Zerg Unit Guide -Various different units, what they are good against, what they are weak against, how to properly use them and when.
Map Editor Guide – How to use the map editor successfully
Basic playing guides
Beginner Guides – To get you up to speed
Multiplayer Guides – Because sometimes 2v2 is more fun than 1v1 (although you must remember that many of the strategies and basic game playing apply for multiplayer games)

This just honestly covers the surface of what he has. For the value, and considering the time you’ll save trying to get better at the game, this is the best way that I can think of.

Shokz also lets you request certain strategies. Lets say somebody beats you in the game, well how did he beat you, if you have a general idea, e-mail Shokz, he is always open to answering your emails. He never gives you trouble and responds within a matter of hours every time (At least he did for me).

Now he offers one more service which is a premium service. You should only get it if you are actually VERY serious about getting better, and am unsure of how to take it to the next level. You can send Shokz your video replay and he will outline every aspecct of your game, how you should improve it, what ou are doing wrong, how to fix it. After the replay, he allows you to ask him 10 questions that he did not cover or that you need clarification on. The service is available for members, it’s not free but it’s certainly worth getting if you are serious about taking your Starcraft 2 to the next level.

Using Protoss to Harass Enemies

In Starcraft 2, Protoss has the widest range of units available to them, leaving a vast amount of strategies which you are able to use. It is important to know what all of the units are good for if you wish to become a master at the game. These are three very popular, effective and well-known methods to help you get started playing Starcraft with the Protoss race.

Zealot Rush

The Zealot Rush is a highly effective strategy against Zerg opponents. It must be used early in the game, as Zealot’s are strong against Zerglings. You must be fast for this rush to work, and must get them before your opponent uses Roaches and Hydralisks. Your main goal in this is to destroy his mineral flow, if you are able to stop his mineral flow you will put him at a big disadvantage early on in the game, and it will not be easy to catch up. On a player of a low level, you may be able to finish them. Some key things to note with this rush are to avoid his Queen until you have at least 3 or 4 Zealots. You must also watch him to see if he is putting down any Spine Crawlers, and if he has a Baneling Nest as well. It is important to micro-manage this, as if you do not properly micro-manage, you will just waste your Zealots, however if you micro-manage properly, you can win the game. Do not Zealot rush against Terrans, marines are quite strong and cost effective, they are very good at taking out Zealots.

Warp Prism Colossus Harass

You can use the Warp Prism Colossus to harass your opponents, and hurt their economy with low risk to you. All you have to do is tech up so that you are able to get the Warp Prisms, and the Colossi. You get a Warp Prism and a Colossus, using the Warp Prism, you send the Colossus to the back of his base. Your goal for this strategy is to warp the Colossus back and forth, using it to attack his resources. Whenever he comes to defend, and attack your Colossus, you warp it back, so that you do not lose your Colossus. You do not wish for it to take any damage, and it is quite annoying towards him, will frustrate him and slowly deplete his minerals.

Dark Templar Rush

Dark Templar’s are very useful before the opponent starts getting observers. Once the opponent is able to see the stealth units, they lose much of their effectiveness. This strategy makes a bit of risk as if the opponent is properly defended, you will put yourself at a disadvantage, so you must be prepared. To use this strategy, you load up on gas, and get your Shrine before they can scout it. As soon as you have Dark Templars, you must send them to the enemy’s base and attack immediately. The first thing you always want to do is head for their minerals and destroy as many scv’s, drones, probe’s as you possibly can. If you are able to kill them all, attack other important things like Supply Depots. When you are detected you wish to leave the base to preserve your Dark Templars for a later possible attack.381afe2ce12a7a9 Using Protoss to Harass Enemies

Protoss – Pro’s and Cons

art1 Elegant Protoss Protoss Pros and Cons

Protoss are futuristic aliens originating from Aiur, a planet on the fringe of the galaxy, they are a humanoid species with advanced technology, they have futuristic weapons, and psionic abilities.. They are normally shown as the nemesis of the Zerg. Protoss are generally considered an easy race to use, you focus on the quality of the units rather than amassing large quantities, and the control is far easier.

Protoss tends to be the most popular race for many reasons, I think the first being they are the easiest to use. They have many powerful units, and need minimal building time. You do not have to constantl micro-manage your game, and even if you are, they can focus on fighting rather than creating an scv or a drone for each individual building. A single probe is capable of building unlimited buildings at the same time, the only requirement that a building has is that it is constantly powered with a Pylon. Without the Pylon, the building will lose all of it’s power.

They are very strong once you are able to get midway into the game, they have several ways to fight other units later in the game. Once you allow the Protoss to prepare their units, they will be very capable. Their advanced technology is what makes it take longer to build their powerful units. Another great thing is their defense with the Photon cannon. The Photon cannon is very capable defensively, making it possible to defend against air, ground, and even cloaked units. No other defensive structure is as capable as the Photon Cannon.

Even though the Protoss has all those pro’s they also have some disadvantages as well.Their units take a long time to build, and it is possible for a good Zerg or Terran player to rush and harass them. It is also very expensive to create the units, and one lost Protoss unit is more expensive than a Zerg or Terran unit. Although they are more powerful, they are also more costly.

Protoss vs Protoss Strategies (Build Order)

38be1cd17817e32 Protoss vs Protoss Strategies (Build Order)

Lots of times, people get worried when they are about to face off against another Protoss player. They know how versatile the Protoss is, and the amount of different strategies they can use on you is so vast, but the same goes for you. As a Protoss player, you have so many strategies you can use, and if you implement it right, defeating Protoss is no different than defeating any other race. If the person is using Protoss, but is not specialized and does not have specific strategies for facing off against them, it can lend to a very easy game for you. The most important thing with any race in Starcraft 2 is to remember to scout early.

Void Rays

The Void ray is great against opponents who make big Protoss units such as Carriers, attacking their base, etc. The Void ray is effective against Protoss, as they actually do not have much to counter air units with. One strategy that you can use is to block off your base, build a build a Stargate, and 2-3 Void Rays and attacking. Now you must have previously scouted, because if he scouted, he may see that you are walled off and builds Stalkers, then you’re in trouble, but if he did not and is building Zealots, well he’s a goner. It works best in lower leagues versus opponents who do not scout. Another way is to expand aggressively, gather minerals, build void rays, this is a mass air strategy. What they need to do is amass large amounts of Stalkers to counter this. This strategy can work really well if you combine it with ground units like Zealots.

Dark Templar Rush

Dark Templars can be one of the most annoying units to deal with. This is a strategy that seems to work very effectively in higher leagues as well as lower leagues. To do this effectively, you cannot let the enemy know what you are doing, build 9 probes immediately, and then build your pylon at the entrance. If you do not build it near the entrance, make sure the opponent cannot properly scout the whole base. Next you will build a Gateway, you can pump out a couple Zealots to get rid of the enemies scouting probes. At 16 units, build another pylon near the edge of your base, a part that the opponent will not be able to see, as this is the most important part. You need to then build a Cybernetics core, and start collecting Gas. All the while keep building probes for minerals as well. After the Cybernetics core, research warp technology (optional) and build your second Gateway. Having 2 gateways leads to a faster output of units, you do not want to have to wait for your Dark Templars to collect. As soon as you are able to build a Dark Shrine do it, preferably in a place the enemy cannot see. After the Dark Shrine, if you are able, build a Pylon and a warp gate inside of the enemy’s base with the probe that has scouted, this is usually difficult if you are going against a good opponent. If not, you can also build it near the enemy’s base just so you do not have to have your Dark Templars walk far, giving him more time to research observers.  I build about 4 Dark Templars, and if the enemy doesn’t have detection, you will be able to rampage and destroy his base. Ideally you wish to hit the Nexus first as that is what he needs to survive. If you find he’s building detection, you might want to hit all of his probes as fast as you can, if you feel you do not have enough time to build a Nexus. Once he does have detection, I usually run my Dark Templars out of there. If you take out the Nexus, you pretty much won the game, you just have to send out balanced units. If you took out the Probes it will be a bit more difficult, but he just lost his entire economy, so you also have a very good chance of beating him. The most important thing to watch out for with this strategy is dectors, if you go for this strategy and he has detectors you may lose the game.

Mixed Army

Mixed units are good, they create a good balance for Protoss. They are able to fight anything, and if micro’d correctly, are able to defend and attack just about anyone. There is however a way to beat them. The key to beating them is not spending money on getting different buildings, or anything of that sort. The key is to stop them early with Zealots and Sentries. You should also consider researching Charge, although not as necessary for Protoss it still makes your untis better. So concentrate on building mass amounts of Zealots and Sentries, saving your resources and just going for a larger army. You cannot extend the game, you cannot let him expand. If the opponent is the type to mass Zealots, then you want to take the other route and build air units (void rays).

These are just a few of the Protoss vs Protoss strategies that are available in the game. You will actually find that the strategies can be used for other races as well, and that they are all very flexible. It is important to find a strategy that you enjoy employing. The most important part of this game is to have fun, I however enjoy winning more than losing, and I assume that is why you are on this website. It is much more gratifying. When you keep playing you will discover strategies that opponents do to you, copying them is a great idea. Good luck, have fun!

Due to the versatility of the Protoss race, there are a lot of great ways to beat Protoss players. The key is early scouting so you can get whatever counters your opponent. With that said, here are some effective Protoss vs Protoss strategies:

Void Rays

For a longer game, getting Void Rays is a great way to beat another Protoss player. Protoss lack a strong armored air counter. There are two ways to pull this off. First you can try the air rush, which involves walling your base, building 1 Stargate, making 2-3 Void Rays, and going in. If your enemy is building Zealots and Immortals, this is an effective strategy. If your enemy is amassing stalkers, it is a bad strategy. It works best in lower leagues versus opponents who do not scout. The other way to do this is to spread out the map aggressively and amass void rays. If you construct a massive Void Ray army, your Protoss opponent cannot stop it. The Stalker is the key counter to an air rush. To the mass air strategy, you have to just stop it by destroying unprotected expansions. It will be unstoppable if too many Voids are built.

Dark Templar Rush

This is very effective even in the higher leagues. You must wall the entrance with a pylon, a gateway, and a few Zealots. You can’t let your opponent know what you are up to. Immediately upgrade to a Dark Shrine. If you can, conceal the Dark Shrine in the corner of your base so the enemy can’t see it. When you go in, if the enemy has no detection (common if you are fast), you can use the front and send in at least 4 Templar as that way you can kill faster than the opponent can counter. Go right for the kill and take out their core Nexus at once. If they do have detection, you can still usually execute their main base if you use a Warp Prism and warp in about 6 Dark Templar. By the time they recognize what happened, their Nexus is gone! Once this happens, make a more balanced army to come in and execute everything.

Mixed Army

A lot of players will go for the mixed army approach: some Stalkers, some Sentries, some Immortals, and maybe some Zealots. This is efficient but the easiest way to counter this as a Protoss player is to hit them early. Research Charge and mass Zealots and Sentries (on a side note, Charge is not nearly as important versus Protoss players as they have no units which easily kite Zealots). The opponent will spend a lot of resources on a variety of buildings and you will end up with a larger, stronger army in the short time. Don’t let them go air or expand and you will win this just like that. Charging Zealots and Sentries are great versus newbies who mass Stalkers as well. To counter a Zealot masser, go air!

To sum up, three effective ways to beat Protoss players are to rush or mass Void Rays, rush to Dark Templar, or build Zealots and Sentries. These are just a few of many Starcraft 2 Protoss vs Protoss strategies. The best Starcraft 2 Protoss vs Protoss Strategy always depends on your opponent’s strategy. If your opponent is massing Zealots and Sentries, a quick Void Ray strike will be crippling. If they are massing Sentries, rushing to Voids can be disastrous. Likewise, if an enemy has no detection, Dark Templars are an instant win every time! Take some time to learn the units and you will be winning your Protoss mirror matches every time.

Starcraft 2 Zerg Strategy

e43708c24cce826 Starcraft 2 Zerg Strategy

Most players feel Zerg is the hardest class to play in Starcraft 2. They begin with a slow start and have a very late anti-air capability. Moreover, Terran players are capable of destroying their Roaches and Zerglings easily. Therefore, since players feel that the Zerg race is difficult to play with, they go for other races. But if you have a good understanding of the Zerg race and are able to build a good Starcraft 2 strategy based on the Zerg, then you can be very successful at the game. You might have noticed that the top of the Diamond league Zerg players occupy it more than by any other race.

In order to be able to play a more strategic game as a Zerg, you need to use a good build order in the game. One of the good build orders is called “IdrA” after the player who popularized it. This strategy goes like this:

Start by going for 10 Drones. When you reach 10/10 Drones, build an Overlord. In the meantime when the Overlord is building, use an extractor cheat to get 11/10 Drones. Once the Overlord get completed, build more Drones to reach 15/18 Drones. Build a Spawning Pool but eventually you will lose one Drone here. Build 2 more Drones to reach 16/18 supplies. Now build a Hatchery to expand to your natural expansion. Once you have the money, build an Overlord. By now your Spawning pool will get completed. Then build a Queen and a pair of Zerglings. From here on, you need to use a strategy based on your opponents’ strategies and their power.

For instance, if your opponent is going for a fast rush, then you will build to get a Spawning Pool sooner than before. If your opponent is proxying, you can easily win by building a couple of automated defenses and sneaking a pair Zerglings through to his main base.

One thing you need to keep in mind as a Zerg is to expand aggressively. Since Zerg units expendable and weaker, you have to have more resources in order to compensate for it. Expanding is the most important strategy for a Zerg. That will enable you to win long games.

As a Zerg, you will have to have better economy than your opponent. So you need to stop your opponent from expanding at all cost. You can do this by sending a dozen Speedlings to different expansion points. If the opponent is not fast enough, the Speedlings can easily destroy enemy harvesters. They can even take down the Nexus or Hatchery. Even if some Speedlings get destroyed in the process, it does not matter as they are cheap and therefore dispensable.

One very effective strategy is to have 2 packs of Speedlings on standby. You can send one pack to attack the opponent’s expansion. Most inexperienced players will send every unit they have to defend this attack, leaving their main door open. Then you can sneak the second pack into his main base and destroy the main Nexus. Most opponents will not see this coming and will be taken by surprise. Using these effective strategies, you can really dominate the game.

Protoss vs Terran Strategies – Stalkers

46e1b59c835e8a4 Protoss vs Terran Strategies StalkersOne of the most difficult opponents to deal with if you are playing as a Protoss is the Terran. You will most often have to deal with Reapers eventually. You can however follow a few tips to handle this. The best method to approach this is to proxy in a one versus one game. This would involve constructing Gateways as quickly as you can at your opponent’s base. At the very beginning of the game, send a Probe outside your opponent’s base to a hidden spot. In the meantime, build a probe at your own base to harvest minerals.

Once your probe reaches the opponent’s base at the right location, build a pylon and to Gateways after that. As soon as the first Gateway is completed, send in a Zealot by Chrono Boosting. If one or two Marines attack you, you can easily dispatch them. If you opponent is constructing a tech lab, destroy it immediately as you do not want Reapers at any cost.

Keep building more Zealots as you send them inside in more numbers. This would be a good way of harassing the opponent and keeping him from building units. Even if he survives your attack, you need to ensure that you contain him effectively as you expand the map.

Another strategy is to rush Stalkers. Build one Pylon at 8/10 as well as one Gateway at 12/19. As you are building your Gateway, pump out Probes. Once you get the spare minerals, build an Assimilator. When you Gateway is done, then build a Cybernetics Core. In the meantime, build a Zealot, one more Pylon and pump out more workers. Once the Cubernetics Core is done, Chrono Boost out a Stalker. A clever opponent might send a Reaper before your Stalker. But that is not an issue as you may not lose many Probes before you get your Stalker. Then position your Stalker in the minerals operation.

Some times the opponent might react even quicker and rush the Reaper even at the cost of a few workers. But then again, it is not a huge problem as you will only lose a few Probes by the time your Stalker arrives. If the opponent had actually sacrificed building works in favor of rushing the Reaper, that would have done more damage to him than to you.

Once you have your Stalker in hand, you can start building units to counter his game plan. If he is using Mauraders, then you can counter them by using Charge Zealots / Sentries. In case he comes out with Marines, then you need to use Colossi. Siege Tanks can be effectively countered by using any one of Immortals, Void Rays, or the Phoenix. Void Rays can especially be a great asset when you are playing against Terran players.

Since the Terrans are the most difficult players to play against when you are a Protoss, you need to have a good strategy to counter the opponent’s power. Using the strategies outlined above can be an effective weapon against the Terrans in any game.
