Have you heard the word –Nightmare before now? A formidable member of the Terran Team, the battlecruiserwhich belongs to the air unit is one nightmare you’d hope never to meet on theside of your enemy. The starcraft 2 battlecruiser has come a long way from whatit was in starcraft 1. With massively upgraded weapons systems and armors, thebattlecruiser has now become more or less the nightmare of the skies!

Among the upgrades noticed in thisstarcraft 2 version, is the single laser cannon which has been replaced with amassive 4 laser cannon array which automatically implies that the battlecruiseris now at least 4 times as lethal as it was before. Also, some attention waspaid to its armor. Yes, the battlecruiser is now encased in a fortified coat ofneo-steel which affords it the luxury of absorbing unusual quotas ofdamage.  However, spate of recent modificationscomes with its own price as the battlecruiser is now much slower than it usedto be. In addition, it costs a real fortune to come by.

An interesting upgrade availablefor the battlecruiser is the Yamato Cannon upgrade. Hook this up and you willhave one nasty piece of work in the skies! This weapon upgrade somehowtransforms a nuclear explosion into a unified energy ray. Although therequirements needed to organize a laser cannon show are energy sapping, theeffects of the blow out are simply stunning! Another upgrade available is theplasma torpedoes. With these laser torpedoes, the battlecruiser exhibits anuncanny fiery temperament which is capable of unleashing chaos and massdestruction. Again, like the Yamato Cannon upgrade, it requires a huge amountof energy to instigate a plasma torpedo attack. Yet, another upgrade for thebattlecruiser is the Behemoth Reactor which gives the battlecruiser added bonusenergy of 25 when it is starting. Now, considering the fact that the YamatoCannon uses 125 energy to get started, it therefore means that with the BehemothReactor, the Yamato Cannon would be ready for use 45 seconds earlier thannormal. These 45 seconds could actually represent the thin line between lifeand death on the battlefield.

The battlecruiser is also able todefend itself against both aerial and ground provocations. It could serve inthe capacity of a battle flagship or a more sinister role as a mega heavyweight offensive unit. I guess the greatest achievable feat made by thebattlecruiser is the fact that it actually doesn’t have a matching nemesis fromthe opposition. The feeble efforts of the other anti-air units are laughablewhen compared to the battlecruiser. However, under a sustained attack fromother air units, the battlecruiser will cave in. So, it is important to alwaysprotect the battlecruiser with a couple of ravens and vikings.

So what do you do when yourbattlecruiser comes under some massive artillery fire? Remember, it is a veryexpensive piece of equipment. Losing your battlecruiser could really be a bigdeal! So, if your battlecruiser gets badly hit and is damaged, a great advicewould be to retreat from the scene of battle and fix up the damages using SCV.
