Starcraft 2 with the Hydralisk! To me, it’s a very good
combination. Do you mind asking me why?        
Yes, I’d tell you. For me, I love using the hydralisk because they are
known to be among the most ruthless and feared members of the Zerg clan. In
fact, they are so dangerous that it is often said that the upper section of
their exoskeleton is a trap door for dozens of deadly projectiles which when
released, travels with such a momentum enough to pierce a 0.2 meter thick
neosteel armor.

In appearance, the Hydralisk is a
really scary sight. It looks more like a giant caterpillar encased in armor
with lots of drool dribbling down its great jaws. It is rumoured that the
Hydralisk was the product of some sinister experiment on evolution and that it
was formally an herbivore known as Slothien.

With all the dark and ugly
history notwithstanding, the Hydralisk remains a prized possession in the Zerg camp
base. Its multi-faced battle-minded attack orientation makes it such a valuable
asset in the Zerg clan. The versatility of the Hydralisk cannot be called into
question as it is known to be capable of warding off aerial attacks as well as
ground attacks. Its advantages and usefulness in battle is better experienced
than spoken of.

A peculiar feature of the Hydralisk is the fact that even in the midst
of a battle; the Hydralisk could regenerate their health! This is possible
because of the capability they possess for burrowing. When they are burrowed,
they become hidden from the enemy. When you really consider it, burrowing could
actually serve three (3) different purposes; burrowing to regenerate health,
burrowing to turn the Hydralisks into temporary spies or scouts and also in an
offensive, burrowing could actually be used to lay an ambush for the enemy
either through a surprise attack on a non-suspecting advancing army or a real
ambush where the Hydralisks remain hidden until the enemy passes and then they
turn around to spring on them from the rear.

In addition, the upgrade
available for the Hydralisk enables it to exhibit some really unique
capabilities. Among these includes: the ability to burrow and quick health
regeneration. It is also interesting to note that the Hydralisk costs
reasonably low to produce and they have a rather short production time so this
means that it is quite plausible to turn out these Zerg units in mass in the
shortest possible time. Another great feature about these Zergs is the fact
that there is no limitation on the numbers that can be produced. The only
requirement necessary to keep the production of the Hydralisk is to build as
many hatcheries as possible when the opportunity arises.

The
Hydralisk no matter how wonderful they may seem, cannot be without their own
faults. The down side of having the Hydralisk in your combat retinue is that
they are really slow in movement on plain terrains.  Also, it’s important to take note that Hydralisk
fares better in the company of other Zerg units like the Dark Swarm, Mutalisks
etc. Producing too much of them alone will actually turn out to be
counter-productive in the long run because there are some enemy units like the
Terran Siege tanks which are capable of wiping them out even from a distance.
